WHO WE ARE

Global surveillance of Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) and other sexually transmitted infections (STI) is a joint effort of the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS). The UNAIDS/WHO Global HIV Strategic Information Working Group was founded in 1996 as the Working Group on Global HIV/AIDS and STI Surveillance. The Working Group is co-chaired by staff in the Strategic Information and Monitoring Division of UNAIDS and the WHO HIV Department. It calls on experts in the field of strategic information and HIV surveillance to contribute to the Working Group goals.
